Chancellor's secretariat asks varsities to clear salary/pension backlogs by July 20

The Chancellor's secretariat has asked all varsities to clear salaries to university teachers and employees, and pension and retirement benefits to retired ones by July 20 and submit status reports in the prescribed format, officials said on Sunday. Additional chief secretary (ACS) to the Governor, Dipak Kumar Singh, sent a letter to VCs in this regard.

Samrat-led NDA govt to seek trust vote today

The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government headed by chief minister Samrat Choudhary will seek the vote of confidence in a special session of the Bihar Assembly on Friday. According to the Vidhan Sabha schedule, Speaker Prem Kumar will first make introductory remarks and then Choudhary will propose that "this Assembly expresses faith in the current Council of Ministers."

Bihar: Teachers fume after edu dept's latest order, MLC threatens privilege motion

The matter escalated after the education department issued orders on Wednesday to stop the salary and pension of Federation of University Teachers' Association of Bihar (FUTAB) working president Kanhaiya Bahadur and general secretary Sanjay Kumar, also an MLC (member of the Legislative Council), for their remarks against the order that college and university teachers should also mandatorily take five classes each day and strike off names of students remaining absent for more than three days.

Bihar: Governor calls university vice chancellors meet on April 3
