NEW LAWYERS IN BIHAR TO GET %5K MONTHLY STIPEND FROM OCTOBER

Patna — Bihar Advocate General SD Sanjay announced on Tuesday that new lawyers will receive a monthly stipend of %5,000 from the first week of October, fulfilling a commitment made by chief minister Samrat Choudhary. The advocate said that after April 1, 2024, all new lawyers registered in the Bihar State Bar Council should be entitled to the benefit on fulfilling the conditions of the stipend scheme.
"This scheme will start in the first week of October," he said, adding that modalities were being worked out. The government had announced that from April 1, 2024, the new lawyers | enrolled would be given a monthly stipend of 25,000 for 3 years along with an assistance of five lakh rupees for e-library to the advocate associations.
For this, the government has given an amount of 230 crore to the Bihar Advocate Welfare Trust Committee. It also includes a scheme to facilitate toilets for women lawyers and improve the chamber. He said that since he took over as AG, 119 law officers have been appointed and more will follow suit, including senior public prosecutor and public prosecutor.
